Contacting your Rider

Uber is meant to work without a phone call or text, but there are times when you will need to contact your rider. This video explains best practices on how to do so!

Sometimes you may need to contact your rider during a trip if you are having trouble finding them. If you are using an Uber phone you will need to text or call the rider from your personal phone. If you are using the Uber Partner App on your personal phone, you will be able to click the number and call the rider directly from the screen shown above.

You may cancel the trip If you are not able to contact your rider after 10 minutes. Tap cancel and choose the ‘Rider no-show’ reason.

To contact your rider, follow these steps:

1. Select the clipboard icon on the top right

2. Select CONTACT

3. Select MESSAGE to send a text or select CALL to call your rider

The number you see listed for the rider is not the rider's actual phone number. For safety purposes Uber uses a number randomization software so that riders and drivers never actually have each other's personal phone number.
